Background
The Faison Center is a school for children of low functioning autism where they are taught key life skills.
The Faison center is a nonprofit 501(c)3 educational organization that transforms the lives of children who have experience autism. The take preschool children, and have the opportunity to teach those children all the way until they become 21. Each student gets an individualized IEP (induvidualized education program) and are given the vital skills that they need to succeed in the world.
Challenge
Being a teacher is hard. Being a teacher at the faison center is even harder.
Teaching disabled children is incredibly rewarding - but no one ever said it was easy. Teachers have an incredibly high rate of burnout (include statistic here). If the job itself wasn't hard enough - teachers are dealing with low tech methoods that can get destroyed by the students, that are cumbersome to make, and take time out of their routines where they could be focused on their students.
Opportunity
Create a Product in order to make teachers lives easier and decrease teacher turnover.
Insight
Kids love sitting on their damn ipad.
